ABOUT US
Shailesh Enterprises was started in year 2011 with an objective to provide quality solar products for the rural mass. The birth of the agency happened as part of TERI’s Lighting a Billion Lives program where agency was involved for providing service to the solar charging station. Since then the enterprise has been working in the rural to extend the quality energy service through solar technology. Shailesh Enterprises in his very beginning stage started tie-ups with several NGOs/organization to spread clean energy access to the needy people. Intervention starts by awareness generation about importance and need of clean energy to the people and community at the village level.
Since then Shailesh Enterprises has expanded its work in Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.

Our Clean Energy Intervention
In India, where nearly 60 percent of the population use traditional cookstoves, the issue of clean cooking is one of the major issues especially in rural india. Half a million deaths in the country can be attributed to household air pollution from cooking and heating.
With technical support from The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), Shailesh Enterprises initiated the Clean Cooking Programme in 2013 to gain an understanding of the market for clean cooking products and technologies. During the year 2013-15 under TERI – DFID supported project, Shailesh Enterprises installed around 8650 solar home lighting systems and Improved cookstoves in 5 districts of Bihar.
Further, in 2015 -18, Shailesh Enterprises in association with Bihar Rural Livelihood Promotion Society and TERI worked under Power Finance Corporation supported project to provide 10,000 solar home systems and Improved Biomass cookstoves in the state of Bihar.
In the same duration, Shailesh Enterprises worked under Coal India Limited CSR to provide 9500 cookstoves in Purulia districts of West Bengal.
From 2018, Shailesh Enterprises worked with Jeevika Women’s Initiative in Renewable Energy (JWIRES) under the guidance of TERI to launch a Market Development Programme facilitating marketing, distribution and financing of clean cooking products and technologies in the state of Bihar. The primary objective of the programme was to reduce exposure to carbon emissions and reduce the drudgery of cooking on traditional chulhas and collecting fuel wood. The focus was to build a market for aspirational as well as affordable clean cooking solutions and create a positive impact in the lives of rural communities. The programme was rolled out in the districts of Purnia, Muzaffarpur, Patna, Gaya, Nawada, Aurangabad and West Champaran. By March 2019, around 35 Women Energy Enterprises were created who are being supplied solar home systems and Improved Cookstoves for further dissemination.
In year 2022, Shailesh Enterprises, Partnered with VNV advisory services, Singapore to generate carbon credits for the cookstoves that were installed in the year 2021.
Similarly, Shailesh Enterprises is working with a few other developers to install solar home systems and Cookstoves in the state of Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal to reach out to more than 30,000 rural households.
